This is a fantastic opportunity to join our national schools and theatre tours for the upcoming season.  Please be aware that you MUST have a full, clean driving licence due to the nature of this job and location of our Company base.

Auditions will be held the week of the 29th August and will be at our base in Nottinghamshire.

We are looking for some great actors and personalities to join us and be part of a winning team.  The tour dates are listed below, and you would need to be available for the full length of the tour including rehearsals.

Rehearsals: 13th Sept – 23rd Sept 2016

Touring nationally from 24th Sept – 24th December 2016

First of all, we love working with children! We specialise in beautiful productions for children and family audiences and we are one of the leading companies in our field.

Our shows are beautiful and we are very proud of the productions we create, offering our young audience the perfect introduction to live theatre. Our style is physical, highly interactive, and incorporates beautiful puppetry, original music, and magical scenery.

Well, if you LOVE working with children, too, you're already well on the way! If you're fun to be around, you're getting even closer still. We are looking for a very special 'all-rounder' to join our company.

You will need to have a good general level of fitness as our shows are very physical, great comedy skills, sing well and be able to keep on smiling in the face of adversity!

We are a touring company, so please remember that you need to be prepared for the inevitable rigours of touring; being away from home, spending lots of time with the same faces, early starts, get ins, get outs, lifting and carrying.

We will be touring to school & theatre venues, and when we are in schools (which will be around 60% of this tour) and we also run follow-on drama workshops for the children.

There are the inevitable admin jobs that need to be done on a daily and weekly basis, so you will need to be organised, computer literate, articulate and have a good manner both in person and on the phone. If you feel that paperwork is best left to others then sorry, but this job might not be for you.

Finally, you must have a great deal of experience in working for children (4 - 7 year olds), and hopefully, your CV will reflect this. If you do LOVE working with children, show us!

This is a brilliant opportunity to work with a fantastic company, so we are looking for people who have touring experience already. If you're prepared to roll up your sleeves, are not afraid of hard work, have a brilliant sense of humour, can adapt to different situations quickly and want to be part of an amazing adventure, then we'd love to hear from you.

You will be paid £425 per working week, including all rehearsals. We will also provide and pay for accommodation when required throughout your contract.

That's brilliant! If you are a genuine team player, and would seriously like to be considered for this role, then please email a covering letter, explaining why you're the right person for the job along with your CV to

Thanks for reading and we look forward to hearing from you

Character Breakdown

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – Mr Zacoor (MALE/FEMALE)

Mr Zacoor is an eccentric, “elderly” shopkeeper who runs a traditional toy shop.  But he has a secret…he is in fact a sorcerer who is looking for the perfect apprentice.

Although he appears to be elderly,  he is energetic, agile and quick witted and pops up in all sorts of unusual places, so you must be physically agile.

As the actor playing this role, you will need to be able to engage the audience well, as Mr Zacoor is the audiences link to the story and helping Charlie to achieve his goal.  You will also be puppeteering Mr Fuddles the cat, and other puppets in the show (including shelves, buckets and a toy soldier!).  You also play a secondary character, the American Tourist.

Mr Zacoor does demonstrate magic skills in the show, so a knowledge of simple tricks will be helpful, or a willingness to learn.

On your application, please let us know why this particular role appeals to you.

The Sorcerer’s Apprentice – Charlie Hubble (MALE/FEMALE)

Charlie Hubble is a young 7 year old boy who has always wanted to be a magician.   He has saved his money to go and buy The Big Book of Magic for Trainee Magicians from Mr Zacoor’s toy shop and that is when he meets Mr Zacoor himself.

Charlie is an enthusiastic, kind and honest child who loves life and is desperate to be a magician in order to help other people.  He is about 7 years old and one of several children from a poor background,

As the actor playing Charlie, you must be confident in engaging the audience as Charlie takes them along on his journey.  You will operate several puppets in the show, Percy Parrot, the Little Boy, Mr Fuddles and Robby the Robot, so if you have puppeteering skills we would love to see them, or be willing to learn.

On your application, please let us know why this particular role appeals to you.
